I used to live with this skewed idea that my memories lived within “stuff”. I kept items because they reminded me of the past. I held on to things that once made me happy but really just occupied space. I held on to things that never made me happy but were just there to remind me of a life I had moved away from.
Apologizing to yourself for your past is an effective way to accept and let go.

So I did. I moved on. I let go. I got rid of things. I’m still getting rid of things. I don’t miss any of these things. I still have the memories – they were inside me, not attached to the things. Now I have space to fill with new memories, not new stuff.
